Jive

Jive (persistent. jive) the dance of African origin that appeared in the USA in the early 1940s. Jive is a type of swing with fast and free movements. Modern Jive is very different from swing in style, although it often use the same shapes and movements.

Time signature 4/4, tempo — 44 cycles per minute. The Jive dance is performed in ballroom dancing competitions. Of the five dances of Latin American program, Jive is always the last one and is the apotheosis of the competition program. This dance is very fast and sparkling. Thus, it allows couples not only to demonstrate technical skills, but also to show their physical fitness.

The main figure of the modern Jive is a fast syncopated chassis (step→prefix→step) left and right, along with a slower step back and return forward. Hips and knees are raised at the expense of "and", which is located between the main accounts. Steps are made with a sock. The weight of the body is always ahead and is transferred from one foot to the other. In the performance of the dance, the couples try to accentuate each even score, thereby increasing the speed of the individual fragments of the figures. This is a small description of the motion, since more sophisticated techniques include rotation of the hips, back, and more.Links
